Forinthry Gates & Artefacts

This page describes an extended idea that accompanies Blessed Status. Blessed Status precedes and is independent from this proposal. Forinthry Gates and Artefacts are not required for Blessed Status to work, but they extend the same risk-vs-reward philosophy to non-Blessed players. It is recommended to read the Blessed Status page first.

Core Proposal - Read First
Blessed Status
An opt-in overhead status for the Wilderness. Spend 100k GP to keep your items on death, with a 5% fee paid to the PKer who kills you. The proposal that precedes this one.
Forinthry Gates & Forinthry Artefacts

The ideas in the Blessed Status proposal focus heavily on Blessed Status players. But the same core problem (risk not feeling worth the reward, and players worldhopping constantly instead of staying engaged) also affects unskulled and skulled players doing PvM. Forinthry Gates address that without touching Blessed Status at all.

Originally conceived by Danil445, Forinthry Gates are 6 or so scattered locations throughout the Wilderness that serve two purposes: letting Tiered Blessed players log out or worldhop without losing their tiers, and letting non-Blessed players convert earned loot into protectable Forinthry Artefacts.

You cannot obtain Forinthry Artefacts while using Blessed Status. Forinthry Artefacts are explicitly a tool for unskulled and skulled players, continuing the pattern that higher risk options reward players proportionally more.
How Forinthry Gates Work

The result is that players are encouraged to make a decision each time they want to bank or escape: do you run for the edge of the Wilderness, or do you push further in to reach a Forinthry Gate and lock in your loot? It promotes sustained, organic gameplay rather than immediately worldhopping the moment anything happens.

Suggested Gate Locations

Here is a rough map of where the Forinthry Gates could be placed.

Forinthry Artefacts

Death WITHOUT an artefact
You lose all the loot from your inventory and looting bag. You lose the whole trip.
Death WITH an artefact
Merge your loot at a Forinthry Gate and it becomes a single Forinthry Emblem, which is protected on death no matter what.

Forinthry Artefacts mirror the Ancient Artefacts from Revenant Caves in structure and price. The difference is that an Ancient Artefact is always lost on death, while your most expensive Forinthry Artefact is always kept on death.

There is also a Forinthry Idol, worth 40m, obtained by combining two Forinthry Relics without ever leaving the Wilderness. It cannot be made from GE-bought Relics. Successfully creating it rewards you with a bonus 8m on top of its base value, reflecting the sustained risk of camping the Wilderness for the time it takes to accumulate two Relics.

Details on Obtaining Forinthry Artefacts

Forinthry Artefacts are a wealth consolidator that reduces your risk of losing GP earned in the Wilderness. They reward long, sustained trips, and they give 3-itemers and skullers a comparable tool to what Blessed Status gives PvMers in that they offer a way to reduce the sting of death without removing all risk.

The Math

A Wilderness Progression Ladder

What's the progression ladder of risk with the existence of Blessed Status and Forinthry Artefacts?

Beginner's Blessing Blessed Status (Below Level 10 Wilderness for reduced Death Fee) Blessed Status (No Tier) Neutral Status + Low Tier Forinthry Artefacts Neutral Status Neutral Status + High Tier Forinthry Artefacts Blessed Status (Tier 5) Skulled Status + Low Tier Forinthry Artefacts Skulled Status Skulled Status + High Tier Forinthry Artefacts Skulled Status + Amulet of Avarice Skulled Status + Ring of Greed High Risk Skull in High Risk Worlds High Risk Skull in High Risk Worlds + Looting Bag

This creates an entire range of different levels of risk vs reward from low risk, low reward to very high risk, very high reward.
